Protect Idaho Kids Foundation (PIK) will be repeating “PIKnic at the Park” to feed food insecure children for free each Sunday during the Summer while complying with social distancing and Covid-19 health practices.
The program will run for 8 weeks each Sunday from July 11 to August 29th. Registration is not required to get a lunch, but registration does help us with the food count. Please let us know how many in your party are coming. Adults who bring kids will also be provided a free lunch so please include them in your count.
Each person will be given a pre-packaged lunch consisting of a sandwich, fruit, chips and a fruit drink. Lunches can be taken home or eaten at the park as long as local and national social distancing and mask requirements are observed.
Tents will be set up at Ann Morrison near the Fountain to disperse the food. The food will be prepared and packaged by staff of Life’s Kitchen.
To make sure this is manageable, we will start with 300 lunches and increase that by 50 lunches each week for the 10-week period. That comes to a total of 5,250 lunches.
We will be complying with all local and national Covid-19 restrictions including social distancing and the REQUIREMENT TO WEAR FACE MASKS. Please bring your facemasks. We will have a limited supply of masks at the event, but if we run out and you do not have one you will not be served.

Two lucky kids will win a bicycle! We will be giving away a boy’s bike and a girl’s bike on the last PIKnic day, August 29th. Each kid will receive a ticket with their lunch. They can place their ticket with their name, phone number, and/or email on it in a boy’s or girl’s container at the lunch site and we will draw one name from each container. Be sure to specify whether you want a girl’s or boy’s bike. The drawing will take place at the end of the summer.
