Protect Idaho Kids Foundation (PIK) will be launching “PIKnic at the Park” to feed food insecure children for free each Sunday during the Summer while complying with social distancing and Covid-19 health practices.
The program will run for 10 weeks each Sunday from June 28 to August 30th. Tickets will be free but required, providing an accurate count for the number of lunches needed. Tickets will be available by visiting the PIK website or at participating sponsor locations. There will be a ticket cutoff each Thursday at noon to determine the number of lunches needed to be prepared. Adults who bring kids will also be provided a free lunch, but they must have a ticket for each person.
Each person with a ticket will be given a pre-packaged lunch consisting of a sandwich, fruit, chips and a fruit drink. Lunches can be taken home or eaten at the park as long as local and national social distancing restrictions are observed.
Tents will be set up at Ann Morrison near the Fountain to disperse the food. The food will be prepared and packaged by staff of Life’s Kitchen.
To make sure this is manageable, we will start with 300 lunches served to those people who have tickets and increase that by 50 lunches each week for the 10-week period. That comes to a total of 5,250 lunches if all tickets are utilized.
You will receive your ticket via email. Check your spam folder if it doesn’t arrive!
You can print out tickets for the week you desire starting June 1. You must have a ticket for each person to get a lunch. Call (208) 761-5695 number to have tickets on will call if you do not have a resource to print.
We will be complying with all local and national Covid-19 restrictions including social distancing and the REQUIREMENT TO WEAR FACE MASKS. Please bring your facemasks. We will have a limited supply of masks at the event, but if we run out and you do not have one you will not be served.

Two lucky kids will win a bicycle! We will be giving away a boy’s bike and a girl’s bike on the last PIKnic day. Each kid can place their ticket with their name, phone number, and/or email on it in a boy’s or girl’s container when they pick up their lunches and we will draw one name from each container. Be sure to specify whether you want a girl’s or boy’s bike. The drawing will take place at the end of the summer.
